Week of Welcomes!

The inaugural Week of Welcomes in southeast Galway is drawing near – just over two weeks to go!
We have bookings from USA, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and also from other parts of Ireland.
Below you’ll find the detailed Schedule of Events and an additional more detailed information on the WoW Tours.
It’s a long email but we hope you’ll participate in some of the events and day trips on offer!

  • Booking for the Week of Welcomes June 26th-July 2nd is here: www.irelandxo.org/?q=node/add/booking-form
  • The Tours are available as individual events and can be booked by emailing wow@irelandxo.com or ringing the office (091) 842013. Places are limited so please book early! 
  • The Welcome and Farewell Receptions in Cloghan Castle as well the Ceili and Mock Wedding, on Friday night, 1st July, in the Portumna Shannon Oaks is free for all to attend – for organisational reasons, we would ask that you register by email or ‘phone as above.
  • If you would like to join in any of the other days/events, this is also possible  – there will just be a nominal charge for transport/lunch.

In Aughrim, there will be a special performance of music, song and interpretation in the Aughrim Interpretative Centre.

Launch of the ‘Great Outdoors Festival’
An evening of music, song and storytelling around the themes of homecoming, emigration, belongingness and of course Cead Mile Failte.

TOURS

During the Week of Welcomes, there will be a number of local and regional tours on offer to our visitors. These will be led by local experts and historians and provide a unique, once-off opportunity to visit and learn more about the rich heritage of south east Galway. There are a limited number of places available if you would like to join one or more of the tours!

Cliffs of Moher & Galway City Tour Tuesday,

Drive to Cliffs of Moher via the Burren – Lunch in Doolin – Galway City Sights or Shopping.  Dinner followed by Trad on the Prom show at 8pm.

Cost: €20 (entrance fees, meals extra; Show €25)

Tour West Wednesday,

29th June

10 am – 5 pm

Isserkelly Castle – Ardrahan – Kiltartan Gregory Museum  – Coole Park – Kilmacduagh Monastery – Gort  – Thoor Ballylee  – Roxboro  –  Loughrea Cathedral
