Week of Welcomes

28 June 2011

Week of Welcomes 2011 Off  To A Great Start  on Sunday Evening.

The Ireland Reaching Out (IrelandXO.com) inaugural “Week of Welcomes” kicked off to a packed Welcome Reception at Cloghan Castle on last Sunday evening with visitors returning from the UK, USA, New Zealand, Australia and other parts of Ireland.

Representatives from local communities turned out in great numbers to welcome the guests home.  Signing the guest book to the beautiful background melodies of the harp of Muirne Goode from Portumna, those assembled were then greeted formally by Ireland Reaching Out Chairman, Mike Feerick, and Parish Liaison Officer, John Joe Conwell.

Broadcaster and Economist David McWilliams spoke eloquently of the importance of the Diaspora to Ireland, followed by a summary of the week’s events by Project Office Dolores O’Shea. The guests were then treated to a lively session of song, recitation and music by the Eoin O’Neill group.
