Andre Govia’s photographs

Just click on the link above to see Govia’s hauntingly beautiful images. I was reminded of the book Ghosts of the Faithful Departed.

Govia has visited over 800 abandoned buildings and photographed them.

Unlike David Creedon, the photographer and author of Ghosts of the Faithful Departed, Govia does not ask permission to take the pictures. He has been stopped mid-session by police and has a net work of people who inform him of abandoned places, of which he remains mum about the locations.

I would imagine that most locations are in the UK, as Govia is UK based, which makes me wonder why we wouldn’t utilize such large buildings, to reduce the number of people who are living on the streets?

  1. Amazing, amazing photographs!! Thanks for sharing the link. I wonder about the same thing, especially when you see a homeless person on cold winter days….there are so many old abandoned buildings that are boarded up and are clearly not going to be used or torn down any time soon. Can’t get over some of those photos….hauntingly beautiful!
